Most of you, like myself, grew up with a Nintendo and Mario in their lives. In fact, it may have been your first entry point into gaming. Well now you can relive all of those childhood memories and purchase this custom coin block lamp from 8 Bit Lit.
The lamp is pretty straightforward. To turn it off and on, you simply punch the bottom of the lamp (or better yet, tap if you don't want to break it) & it will illuminate your room. It takes about two weeks for the maker to get it to you, because of the intricate work that has to be done to create it. But honestly, does that even matter with such a gem like this?
This is a custom made touch sensitive lamp after the fashion of the Super Mario Brothers question mark blocks that appear throughout the series. It's 6 inches by 6 inches by 6 inches, and made of laser-cut plexiglass and lit from inside by energy-efficient LEDs. The lamp is very light and suspended from an integrated 11-foot power cord, so it's ready to be hung from a hook on your ceiling and plugged directly into an outlet. If you want to use the lamp on a side table or by your bed, we offer a custom acrylic stand (sold separately).
To turn the lamp on and off, merely punch, ahem, I mean touch, the bottom of the cube and you'll be rewarded with both light and the classic coin noise. Every eight times you toggle the light, you'll get a 1-UP! It's very bright in a dark room and still visible in daylight.
This lamp is 100% custom designed, from the exterior to the electronics inside.
Head on over to their Etsy page and get your hands on this great piece. For $75.00 you can't go wrong. Personally, I would buy a bunch of them and put them in my hallway. Then punch each one of them as I went to my bedroom.
