We reported yesterday about how BioWare was going to release the "From Ashes" DLC on day one of the release of the already popular Mass Effect 3 game. Well now Executive Producer, Casey Hudson, has spoken about this & how they did not work on the DLC until after the main game was already done.
On [Mass Effect 3], content creators completed the game in January & moved onto the "From Ashes" DLC, free w/ the [Collector's Edition] or you can buy seperately.
It takes about 3 months from 'content complete' to bug-fix, certify, manufacture, and ship game discs.
In that time we work on DLC. DLC has fast [certification] and no [manufacturing], so if a team works very hard, they can get a DLC done in time to enjoy it with your first playthrough on day one.
Well there you have it. Now can everyone just pipe down and not be so upset that this didn't come out with the game? Anyone that has built an mobile app, website, or even a full program knows that this is pretty common practice. You always have phase 1 of the project, and this DLC is phase 2.
How do you feel like about this? Will it sway your decision to get the game as soon as it comes out?
