Netflix Update For Xbox 360 Brings Facebook Integration, Except In US
So you've turned on your Xbox 360 today and fired up the Netflix app only to be greeted by a prompt for an update. What's included in the 14MB's it takes to get you started up again? No where does it say unless you visit Netflix's blog listing all the new additions.
But before moving on to those changes, I'd like to make a formal appeal to Microsoft: "Why don't you force games studios and providers of these streaming apps to detail what's included in their updates, much the way Apple updates come in?"
And that's it, but I digress...
Anyway, here's what you can expect:
- Skip Forward/Skip Back functions during play allow you to move through movies quickly and move between TV episodes easily
- Zoom function during play lets you enlarge letterboxed video content to full screen
- Better color contrast, making colors more vivid and black more pure.
- If you’re a member in Canada, Latin America, the UK or Ireland, we have also created more opportunities to share TV shows and movies in the connected world and for you to discover more great stuff to watch through your friends. Members that have connected with their Facebook friends on Netflix can now see what their friends have watched and rated on Netflix.
But before you get all excited about the social networking features and integration with Facebook, those are only available for Netflix members out of the United States at this time only. Yeah, sorry about that. Though I'm sure we aren't too far away from getting those social features added to our systems too.
Are you a little bummed you can't share what you're watching on Netflix with your friends on Facebook?
