Caught by Spanish publication El Mundo, Shigeru Miyamoto, one of the Big 3 at Nintendo, has confirmed that not only will there be a new Super Mario Bros. game for Wii U but also that Pikmin will finally be getting its big outing at E3 this year:
"I'm working on several projects but I think I cannot speak for all," he said. "Some are small but important projects for Wii U. Also a new Pikmin, which will use [the] high-resolution images of the console."
Nintendo then backed up and clarified Miyamoto's words to Kotaku:
"In a recent interview, Mr. Miyamoto confirmed that a new Super Mario Bros. game for the Wii U system will be shown at this year's E3 Expo. This is based on the Mario experience that was demonstrated at last year's E3 Expo. We'll have more to announce about our plans for the E3 Expo at a later date."
With that sort of clarification it sounds like it'll just be another showing of Super Mario Bros. Mii, the same game shown last year E3's Wii U debut. However, news of a new Pikmin title has got us all giddy and nostalgic inside. I still remember faking sick to get out of school and then spending the entire day trying to get Olimar's ship parts and finishing the game before the 30 day time limit.
Without Miyamoto specifying exactly what we'd be getting do you think Pikmin will be a game for Wii U or for 3DS?
