MASS EFFECT 3: Free Extended Cut DLC Out This Summer
As many of you already know, BioWare and EA went under a lot of fire recently because of the ending of Mass Effect 3. Many believed that it did not deliver on the decisions that they (the player) made throughout the course of the series. Outrage, outrage, and outrage later, BioWare said that they were going to change the ending somehow to give more closure to the players. At hearing this, many were even more infuriated because BioWare was going back on their original vision. What made things worse is that it was suspected that BioWare would be forced by EA to charge for DLC that gave the better ending.
But, rejoice! Today, EA and BioWare announced Mass Effect 3: Extended Cut, which would be free DLC that added extra scenes and dialogue to the ending, giving more closure for the players. Casey Hudson, who is the Executive Producer for the Mass Effect series, had this to say about it:
We have reprioritized our post-launch development efforts to provide the fans who want more closure with even more context and clarity to the ending of the game, in a way that will feel more personalized for each player.
As of right now, there is no set date other than summer and it will be for all the respective platforms. I hope they will re-release the game a year from now with the correct version on it, so we can put all this behind us.
I am a bit relieved that this DLC will be free. How about you? Are you guys pleased with the way this whole thing is panning out?
