SONIC THE HEDGEHOG 4: EPISODE 2 Races to Players May 16th

Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode 2 may not be coming to the Wii, as confirmed by SEGA, but it will be making it to pretty much everything from else -- from XBLA and PSN to iOS, Android, and heck, even Windows Phone. And we now have a solid release date on when to expect the blue bur to make his approach, and it's going to be May 16th.

Now when Sonic 4 was first announced it was thought to be the dream game long time fans had been waiting for after doubting the latest takes on their beloved blue hedgehog; e.g. Sonic and the Black Knight, Sonic the Hedgehog 2006, and so on and so on. But after its release it didn't get the glowing reviews SEGA was hoping for, not to say it was a complete disappointment either.

So to remedy the issue, Sonic Team is bringing back controls for Sonic that mimic his Genesis days (or Mega Drive for Europeans) and throwing Tails into the mix for good measure. Also, it's been confirmed that this will be the last entry in the "Sonic 4 saga", and that SEGA will simply look on and see how the game is received before it moves on with another installment. But by the look of things and the recent report of downsizing their development teams and even canceling some projects, I would think that the mass platform approach they're taking with this game might be a misstep in the wrong direction... I mean, Windows Phone?

Will you be happy if this is the last time we see Sonic in an old-school, 2D throwback title?
