GEARS OF WAR: EXILE - Kinect Game Cancelled...Thankfully

Gears of War: Exile, the Kinect Gears of War game that was in the works, has now been cancelled. It seems that someone woke up over at either Epic Games or Microsoft and decided to pull the plug on the project. I am pretty fascinated by this news because not even Cliff Bleszinski, who is the head developer at Epic Games, has anything to say about the title. At PAX East this weekend, at the Epic Games panel, he said:

Let's just bury the hatchet now. Gears of War: Exile was an unannounced game that I can't give any details about that has since been cancelled.

Fine, Cliff, but why the strange tone in your statement? It seems like their is anger in his voice. Either he really liked this project, or he was forced to work on this game because Microsoft knew the Kinect would sell better with a Gears title attached to it. I would go with the latter.

So, not only does this project seem crazy, but there is hardly any information on it. Everyone is tight lipped about this title, and I am not entirely sure why. I don't care about the Kinect, though I think it's an interesting piece of technology. I also don't think a Gears title on the Kinect would make that hardware any better, but I guess other people thought the same thing.

Would a Gears of War game on the Kinect be something you would have been interested in, or do you think it was going to be another cash-in for Microsoft?
