MARVEL AVENGERS: BATTLE FOR EARTH Coming Soon for Kinect and WiiU

Ubisoft took to their twitter and announced that Marvel Avengers: Battle For Earth will be released soon for the XBox Kinect and Nintendo WiiU systems. This is a big deal especially for WiiU, being that it's not even released yet and already getting major games.

What is also surprising is that Marvel has decided to go with Ubisoft for this game now. If you remember, Marvel recently ended its relationship with Sega to develop their games. With good reason too. The Sega produced games just never amounted to anything with both the public and critics alike. Hopefully now Ubisoft can bring Marvel games back to the forefront, something that we all want to play.

Tony Key, Ubisoft's Vice President of Sales and Marketing, had this to say:

The idea that we're making a motion-control version of `The Avengers' is a unique proposition if you compare that to superhero games of the past.

This is the perfect type of game for that because these characters are very action oriented. They're always fighting and throwing things.

Although we do not have a release date as of yet, Key says that it should come out around the time the WiiU is released. The game will have the Avengers battling the Skrulls, will have more than 20 characters from the Marvel universe, and will be based on the very popular "Secret Invasion" comic series. Although this game is coming out after the huge success of the movie, it will have nothing to do with the movie.

If you search hard, you may be able to find some alpha footage of a alleged Avengers game that was in development by THQ. It has since been pulled down several times, but had our favorite heroes battling Skrulls. The game was in total first person mode, and in my opinion looked like total crap. Marvel has declined to talk about that video, but let's all hope this Ubisoft game is nothing like that.

Are you excited for an Avengers Kinect and WiiU game? Or should something be made for regular consoles as well?
