Tetsuya Nomura: "New KINGDOM HEARTS Announcement Coming Soon"
Dream Drop Distance, a.k.a. Kingdom Hearts 3D, was released just a little over a month ago in Japan but Tetsuya Nomura, the series' director and writer, already has plans in place for the next installment(s) in the famed franchise.
According to some translated interviews found in the recently released KH: 3D Ultimania -- a guide seen frequently in Japan for Square-Enix games that have the final word on everything within that particular game including exclusive interview with their creators -- Tetsuya Nomura has confirmed the following:
- Kingdom Hearts 3D could be a thing in the future but nothing is set for development right now.
- Kingdom Hearts Birth By Sleep Vol. 2 definitely has a story but there are no plans to produce a sequel to BBS.
- Nomura wants players to use their imaginations on the words " Secret Message Unlocked" on whether or not it points to Kingdom Hearts 3.
The interview is quite candid in what the guy and his team are not working on, which really gets us wondering just what is he up to? Fans were sure we would get at least one more, maybe two, connecting games, like those seen on the handheld systems before we would be treated to Kingdom Hearts 3. But from the look of things, who knows! KHIII could be coming within the next few years, and hey it makes sense.
It took 4 years for KH2 to come out after the original, and then it was another 4 years before we got Birth By Sleep. So should we estimate right here and now that KH3 will hit stores for Wii U and PS3 in 2014?
Do you think the next Kingdom Hearts game will be KH3 or another intercession game?
