While walking around the Microsoft area of E3, I came across a little gem of game that I didn’t hear about prior to going to the event. There it was, Hybrid in front of my eyes. One of the devs from 5th Cell was there playing the game, and the gameplay and graphics caught my eye. Had me just waiting for my chance to play like a little kid at his neighborhood arcade.
If you haven’t heard about this game just like me, Hybrid is made by the same people who brought you Scribblenauts and Run Roo Run. Both of those were well received titles. It seems Hybrid has already been in beta since this past April. The game will be included in Xbox Live’s Summer of Arcade this year.
Hybrid is a third person shooter that is not exactly what you are used to. Don’t think this will be another TPS like Gears of War or even Ghost Recon, because it’s far from that. You will be placed in a war between a species known as the Variant, and rebel humans known as the Paladins.
In the game, you are on very active battlefields that have many cover points for you to retreat to. You have jetpacks (or some other type of booster) that get you across from point to point. As you defeat more enemies, you get more special unlocks to unleash havoc on all others.
If it’s one thing that I value when it comes to a XBox Live game, is that I got my money’s worth out of my purchase. I’m not calling all Live titles failures, but many times you will buy a game and it just never lives up to what you thought it would be. Hybrid is not one of those games. As long as the player base is there, I can totally see this game taking off with people rounding up their friends ready to do battle.
