If you haven't noticed by now, the Unreal Engine is kind of a big thing for developers. Most titles that are not developed in-house, use the Unreal Engine. Between that and PhysX, I could probably start a drinking game for the amount of times I see those engines pop up on title screens and credits.
A new age is upon us and many are preparing for the next batch of next gen consoles. Epic is getting a jump on things by developing this software so that other developers can get to work on their next projects.
This trailer (that's what this is, right?) does not show off anything impressive but it does look good (those particle effects are DOPE!). I just mean that I'm not all like, "Hell Yeah! UNREAL 4!" I am being apathetic until I actually see something great.
I AM excited to see the old engine disappear, though. The Unreal Engine 3 is showing its age and the rendering capabilities are broken in many instances. It will be good to see that fixed (hopefully).
What improvements are you looking forward to in the next edition of the Engine?
