METAL GEAR RISING: REVENGEANCE - Plenty of Dismemberment in Latest Trailer
Oh, poor Metal Gear Rising. Such a long road it has been for you thus far. You premiered at E3 in 2009, you disappeared, and now you are back with a Revengeance (you see what I did there?). How you have been tossed around like an unwanted toy. I still have faith in you, brother.
The development process for this Metal Gear spin-off game has been drawn out and nerve-racking. I was excited when I first saw footage all those years ago, and shared the E3 video with close friends because THEY SHOULD BE EXCITED TOO! Then, it was gone, and I was saddened that I would not play as the Raiden that kicked so much ass in Metal Gear Solid 4.
In 2011, Kojima, the Metal Gear creator, handed the development over to Platinum Games, which is not a bad choice, in my opinion. Platinum Games is responsible for Bayonetta and Vanquish. Their particular style is perfect for the wacky world of Metal Gear, even if it is a different style of gameplay compared to past games in the series.
This trailer makes the game look alright, but I don't feel as excited as I once did. It looks more like a Platinum Games title now, and the Eastern feel is heavy, which is a good thing. I hope the game does not play like a Ninja Gaiden too much because there is a certain NG feel to the combat. I also like the cool Deus Ex augmentation element seen in the bad guys. Maybe you can augment Raiden's suit?
Does this trailer give you more faith in the final product?
