WIPEOUT Fan Art Provides A Different Perspective

Wipeout is a fast paced, futuristic racing series that provides you little information for world in which it exists. Yes, it's in the future, and cars are now these hovering spaceship-things, but you don't get to see what's going on below the track or off in the distance. These thoughts rarely enter you head, anyway because you are moving at such a high speed, that you are only worried about the next corner.

Darren Douglas has created scenes that exist in the Wipeout world, but are not on the track, or focused on the ships. Instead, Darren has shown the civilian side of things, the people passing by the race, or watching from a distance. Aerial shots of the architecture is interesting too as it provides more of a context for the races and gives more insight into the setting. I enjoy these takes on video games, where the perspective is shifted and completely removed from what the player sees while they have a controller in their hand.

What else can you surmise about the Wipeout world based on these pictures?
